We've been sold a really convincing lie.
That the life you want belongs to a future version of you. The more disciplined version. The more confident version. The healed version. The version who finally has her morning routine together, drinks enough water, never procrastinates, journals consistently, meditates daily, answers emails immediately, remembers to thaw the chicken, and somehow never gets overwhelmed. Apparently... she gets the good life. Not you. So you spend years trying to become her. Reading another book. Buying another course. Trying another productivity system. Looking for the missing piece that will finally turn you into the person who's "ready." Except... What if the problem was never you? What if you're already capable? Think about everything you've survived. The relationships. The jobs. The family dynamics. The impossible situations. The disappointments. The losses. You figured them out. You adapted. You kept going. You're probably one of the most capable people you know. Which is exactly why you've become so good at carrying things you should never have had to carry. Responsibility that isn't yours. Pressure that isn't yours. Other people's expectations. Other people's emotions. Other people's definition of success. You didn't become incapable. You became overloaded. Somewhere along the way... Most of us slowly become whoever life rewards us for being. The easy one. The responsible one. The strong one. The successful one. The peacemaker. The helper. The person who doesn't cause problems. Sometimes it happens so gradually you don't even notice. One day you realize your entire personality has been built around making life easier for everyone else. Meanwhile... You have absolutely no idea what actually makes life easier for you. That's one of the reasons I created RETURN. Because I've been there. My "Runaway Bride" moment One of my favorite movie scenes is from Runaway Bride. Julia Roberts' character has been engaged several times. Every fiancé describes her differently. Different personality. Different interests. Different favorite breakfast. Richard Gere eventually asks her one simple question: "How do you like your eggs?" She can't answer. Not because she doesn't like eggs. Because she'd spent so many years becoming whoever everyone else wanted... She genuinely didn't know. I've been her. Maybe you have too. Not with eggs. With your whole life. What do you actually enjoy? What do you actually want? What does success look like for you? Not Instagram. Not your parents. Not your partner. Not the internet. You. Healing isn't becoming someone else This is where I think the personal development world gets it backwards. Healing isn't about creating a better version of yourself. It's about removing everything that convinced you you weren't enough as you already were. The pressure. The guilt. The fear. The people-pleasing. The hyper-independence. The need to earn rest. The belief that you have to prove yourself before you're allowed to enjoy your life. None of those things are your personality. They're survival strategies. And survival strategies are incredibly useful... Until you don't need them anymore. Life gets easier when... Life gets easier when you know who you are. When you stop comparing your dream to someone else's. When you stop trying to earn your worth. When you stop taking responsibility for everyone else's happiness. When you stop believing there is one "right" way to heal. When you stop trying to become someone more impressive. When your nervous system no longer believes everything is an emergency. Life gets easier because you get lighter. Not because life stopped happening. Life is still going to life. People are still going to people. Random bullshit will continue to occur. But you stop carrying it all. You don't need a better you. You need fewer things pulling you away from the version of you that's been there all along. That's the work I do. Not helping you become someone new. Helping you stop carrying what was never yours in the first place. Because the life you want probably isn't waiting for a better version of you. It's waiting for the real one.
